/ EPC rating

Give your EPC rating a lift

Your Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rates your home from A to G. Loft insulation is one of the simplest and lowest-cost ways to improve it, because it tackles one of the biggest sources of heat loss in most homes.

That matters if you're selling, remortgaging or renting your home out. A better rating can make your home more appealing to buyers, and some lenders offer better mortgage deals on more energy-efficient homes.

Illustrative example

Selling soon?

A better EPC rating is one more thing buyers will notice on your listing.

Renting it out?

Rental homes have to meet minimum EPC standards. Loft insulation is often a quick win.

Remortgaging?

Some lenders reward more efficient homes with better rates. Worth asking yours.

/ What we offer

Loft insulation & boarding

Every loft is different. Our loft insulation contractors will recommend what suits yours, but the choice is always yours.

Rockwool loft insulation

The tried and tested choice for most UK lofts. Thick rolls of mineral wool are laid between and across your joists to the recommended 270mm depth. It holds heat well, it's non-combustible and it helps muffle noise too.

Best for

  • Most standard lofts
  • Topping up thin or old insulation
  • The best value for money

Foil insulation

Multi-layer foil insulation is thin and light, and it reflects heat back into your home. Because it takes up so little room, it's handy where space is tight or thick rolls won't fit.

Best for

  • Lofts with limited depth
  • Rafters and awkward spaces
  • Working alongside existing insulation

Loft boarding

Want to store things up there? We fit raised boarding so you get a solid, safe floor without squashing the insulation underneath.

Best for

  • Storage space
  • Safer access to tanks and pipes
  • Fitting at the same time as your insulation
/ Loft boarding

Make the most of your loft

Most lofts are full of space nobody uses. Boarding yours out gives you somewhere safe for suitcases, Christmas decorations and everything else that's cluttering up the house.

The important bit is how it's done. Boards laid straight onto the joists crush the insulation underneath and stop it working properly. We raise the floor on loft legs, so your insulation keeps its full depth and the boards sit neatly above it.

  • Raised on loft legs

Your insulation stays at full depth, so you don't lose any of the savings.

  • Strong, moisture-resistant boards

A solid floor that's built to last.

  • Done alongside your insulation

One visit, one tidy-up, one simple quote.

  • Ask about extras

Loft ladders and lighting can make your new space much easier to use.

It depends on the size of your loft, what's already up there and which material you choose. Loft insulation is one of the lower-cost energy improvements you can make, which is why it pays for itself faster than most. Book a free survey and we'll give you a fixed price.

The current recommendation for mineral wool is 270mm. Lots of older homes have 100mm or less, so a top-up can make a real difference.

Most lofts are done in a day. Bigger lofts, or jobs that include boarding, can take a little longer. We'll let you know at your survey.

It helps if you can, because we need access to the whole floor. If that's tricky, let us know and we'll talk it through.

Yes, and that's a good sign. The insulation keeps the heat in the rooms below, so the loft itself gets cooler. We'll lag any exposed pipes and water tanks and make sure the space stays properly ventilated.

Neither is best for every home. Rockwool is the go-to for most lofts with room for thick insulation. Foil is useful where space is tight. We'll recommend what suits yours.

Yes. We can fit raised loft boarding at the same time, so you get storage space without squashing your insulation.

Some households can get help through government energy schemes, depending on things like income, benefits and the home's EPC rating. Ask us and we'll point you in the right direction.
